Michael Hecker nimmt eine moderne verfassungsgeschichtliche Betrachtung des (rechtsrheinischen) napoleonischen Deutschlands vor. Korrespondierend zum in der Revisionsforschung vollzogenen Wandel in der Beurteilung der Rheinbundzeit wird er eine insgesamt differenziertere (positivere) Einschätzung des rheinbündisch-napoleonischen Konstitutionalismus abgeben. Sein Thema ist dabei in dreifacher Weise eingegrenzt. Er beschränkt sich zum einen auf die napoleonischen Rheinbundstaaten, d. h. die erst durch Napoleon künstlich geschaffenen und weitgehend französisch geprägten Staaten Berg, Westfalen und (mit Einschränkungen) Frankfurt. Außen vor bleiben die übrigen Rheinbundstaaten. Dies gilt sowohl für die 1808, 1809 und 1810 mit Verfassungen versehenen Staaten Bayern, Sachsen-Weimar und Eisenach sowie Anhalt-Köthen wie etwa auch für die zwar ohne moderne Verfassung, aber nicht ohne modernisierende Gesetzgebung regierten Staaten Baden und Württemberg. Die Beschränkung auf die drei klassischen Napoleoniden folgt der herkömmlichen Gruppenbildung unter den verschiedenen Rheinbundstaaten. Ihr liegt die Erwägung zugrunde, dass die Napoleoniden mit ihrer engen Anknüpfung an das Empire sowie der ihnen im Hinblick auf die übrigen Rheinbundstaaten zugedachten Modellstaatsfunktion einen eigenen Staatstypus nach napoleonischer Handschrift bildeten. Dessen konstitutionelle Strukturen herauszuarbeiten und abzubilden ist Anliegen der Untersuchung.

Vor dem Hintergrund des vom Verfasser seit 1982 entwickelten kulturwissenschaftlich-verfassungsvergleichenden Ansatzes werden (erstmals) weltweit mehr als 191 Flaggen-Beispiele historisch, verfassungstextlich, kulturgeographisch, farbenpsychologisch und graphisch-geometrisch in verfassungsjuristischer Weise erarbeitet - bereichert durch Analogien zu Aussagen von Dichtern und Werken von Malern in Sachen Flaggen und Farben, nicht zuletzt ist Goethes Farbenlehre ergiebig. Jüngste Textstufen deuten auf eine "Parlamentarisierung" der Nationalflaggen. Neueste Beispiele für symbolmächtige und in jeder Hinsicht gelungene Nationalflaggen finden sich in Afghanistan und im Kosovo. Parallel geführt ist die Erfassung der weltweiten Präsenz von Nationalflaggen in der Verfassungswirklichkeit, dargestellt im Spiegel deutscher Print-Medien eines Zeitraums von sechs Monaten. (Die Fahnen Tibets wehen derzeit weltweit.) Das neue Buch vervollständigt damit eine Trias zu diesen Einzelaspekten des Verfassungsstaates als Kultur.

Apulian limestones constitute the historic building constructions of the Puglia region (in the south of Italy) named trulli (representing an outstanding universal value for UNESCO), but also other stone buildings of the well-known Itria Valley. Trulli are drywall (mortarless) constructions made of roughly worked limestone blocks collected from neighbouring fields. The limestone for trulli is quarried from different Apulian localities and, together with another local lithotype, represents the stone heritage of the Itria Valley.
This book begins with an introduction to the region of southern Italy where trulli and other typical stone architecture can be found. The Itria Valley with its towns and landscape and the town of Alberobello are described from an architectural point of view. The second section describes the different examples of building constructions in local stone of the Itria Valley, focusing on ancient and contemporary quarries. In this part petrographic and physical mechanical characteristics of the main kind of limestones are reported and discussed. The third part focuses on the main examples of stone architecture of Itria Valley, distinguishing the historical rural buildings from the other historical civil ones. In this section particular attention is given to best practices of evaluation action, protection rules and restoration methods for stone heritage in Itria Valley and Alberobello.
This book serves as a useful source of information to geologists, archaeologists, architects, historians and stone industry operators specifically, and to academic and non-academic communities, travellers, and tourism industry operators in general.
