Coordination Kali will teach Lacoste Inosanto Kali utilizing the Drill Format.Benefits include, but are not limited to- Coordination- Reflexes- Cognitive Function - Basic understanding of Filipino Martial Arts (FMA) and JKD( Jeet Kune Do/Jun Fan Gung fu)- Great activity with friends, family or by yourself- Blends well into any Art. Eventually the student will come to understand the different between a technique and a concept. The basic course offers a non-combative form of Kali/Eskrima designed to build on the practitioner's coordination and build individual confidence. This is an excellent course for the elderly & individuals with limited physical abilities. There is significant data to show Kali/Eskrima coordination drills have benefited individuals suffering from early onset dementia.Wing Chun and Jeet Kun Do are closely related in that Bruce Lee developed the Jeet Kun Do concept based on his original learning in the Wing Chun system. The Collective Martial Arts will be offering courses that teach the concept in lieu of a systematic or regimented martial arts style. This is to allow individual students to learn and adapt what works best for them as they progress through the system. As with the Kali/Eskrima coordination course, the Wing Chun & JKD courses will be offered on-line as a solo training program and in person training at the center.

You know how I love the Appearance Panel and the power it gives me. I could not resist the urge to bring you another class to teach you a new pattern repeat I like to call the Flip Flop! In this class, I will show you that Illustrator has plenty of tools, panels, and commands to make our work much easier. You will learn a bunch of new skills and reinforce many you have learned, and they include brushes, repeat pattern design, the use of the Appearance Panel, Effects, and, of course, transformation.The Transform Effect in Adobe Illustrator lets you move, scale, flip, rotate and repeat the appearance of one or more selected objects, and all of this is editable in the Appearance Panel. The Transform Effect is a dynamic effect whose main result is to create patterns of content that can be easily manipulated, allowing you to make adjustments to the original object or group of objects. This is incredibly powerful, especially when combined with a clipping mask. I go into an even more detailed explanation of this than in the two previous classes I have taught on the subject, Secrets of Live Transformation Mandalas and Delicious Scallops. Using transformation(s), you can create patterns with paths, brush strokes and shapes, flip them, mirror them, move them, all of which I will explain in this class. Then you can edit the whole pattern by making adjustments to the original and changing settings in the Appearance Panel. You'll be surprised by the power of this new and indispensable skillset!Knowing transformation is knowing a lot - it gives you power you may have never even considered. In this class, Flip Flop Techniques for Intricate Pattern Design Using Live Transformations, you will learn the amazing power of the Transformation Effect in Illustrator by producing a template. This template can be saved and used over and over to produce repeat patterns, valuable in pattern design and illustration. I will show you by creating three different pattern types including a grid, a half-drop and an s-curve. You will have a gorgeous pattern (or two, or three) by the time you are done! We will be using reflect and rotate effects, but what you learn can easily be transferred to other functions.These skills will help you produce a gorgeous motif, or two, or three! Description
In this class, we will take a drawn design, scan it and clean it up in Photoshop, then trace it using the Image Trace feature in Adobe Illustrator.With the Image Trace feature, you can take raster (bitmap) artwork and automatically trace to convert into vector artwork. This means that you can take scans of sketches, illustrations, and even photographs, and convert them into vector artwork that can be edited in Illustrator. Since you can see the results live, it helps to play with the settings a bit to get accustomed to what effect they have, and that's what we will be doing! I will help ensure your success with this process. There is much to be taken into consideration, especially cleaning up the initial image.Cleaning up an image is important for getting a good trace in Illustrator. There are a number of techniques that help get rid of unwanted imperfections, and we will cover many in this class. The Image Trace feature is not new - in previous versions it was known as Live Trace - but it has been greatly improved over the years, believe me! Additional options have been added, and you can easily access those options and "test" your trace using the Image Trace panel. I will explain how to do this in a step-by step way. But wait. There's more.Image Trace tends to produce an extraneous amount of anchor points in some places. To get rid of some of these we can use the Smooth Tool, which is utterly amazing! If some shapes did not trace properly, we will deal with that in several ways), and we will talk about ways they can be quickly be redrawn. We will correct every motif in the scan! At this point you can alter, delete or add to your vector design as you creatively see fit. I have experimented with patterns in this class, so the last three lessons will focus on this. You can skip the last three lessons if all you want to learn about is Image Trace! The main thing is that you now have your art in vector form and can easily alter it in many creative ways.As far as prerequisite skills, I would recommend some knowledge of Illustrator with the goal of wanting to learn additional techniques. In class, we'll talk about both design and technical aspects of creating simple and quick patterns. I will demonstrate them at a reasonable pace so that it will be easy to follow along. This course is for all levels; I recommend being acquainted with Illustrator to a certain degree. I suggest pausing and repeating sections and possibly even slowing the speed in your browser when trying to work through any difficult parts. Description
Section One of this course will gave Ong Moon ( 5 Gates ) from the Jeet Kune Do Lineage. Then from Wing Chun, the Siu Nim Tao and Chum Kiu will be taught. It is important to understand that we will be using these to understand structure and movement. Later on, we will delve into why it is taught this way (abc's) and then go into combat application. Section two will cover the wooden man ( Muk yan Jong ). For my Wing Chun brethren, I apologize. We are not using the traditional numbering system here. I am an JKD-Man after all, so we will use the JKD numbering system. " Wing Chun " 1 - 10 will be covered. Followed by Jeet kune do 1 - 8. The ultimate goal here is to be able to treat the wooden man like you would a western heavy bag. An example of this will be found at the end. The Drills4Skills will include some basic level trapping, which you've learned during your section two training. It will also go over some classic JKD drills. We added a little more Kali and one of our special tutorials called " Moments of Opportunity ". Thanks for training with us. We will see you again!

This class, Procreate Highly Textural Mixed Media Cactus Art, has proven to be so much fun! I have loved adding all the mixed media elements to make it look really authentic. In the end, the time it takes is similar to that of a natural media piece, but NO MESS! I also loved the flexibility of working with blending modes, and minor things like adjusting the scale of the patterns. That is NOT POSSIBLE when working with natural media. We build the texture details slowly but surely, using blending modes, opacity changes, hue and saturation shifts, and adding brush texture until we are happy with the results.Lesson 7: Texture and lnterest on the Plant PotsIn this lesson, we add much more of the mixed media details to the plants and pots. I show you how to keep patterns in the correct perspective so that it shows curvature. I was experimenting in Procreate, practicing the use of shadows to create a cut paper look and I decided to steer into the Mother's Day weekend coming up soon. I hope you are ready for more dimension in Procreate, because that's what this class is all about. The art we will be producing today looks like an authentic paper cut flower, all inspired by a poster I saw. This class, Create a Realistic Dimensional Paper Flower Using Shadows and Highlights, will show you some of my illustration and dimension creating methodology. We will mainly be using Procreate airbrushes to paint the soft highlights and shadows, and there will be a ton of info on drawing and general use of selections and a few other shortcuts I think are relevant.In the class, I take you from start to finish in creating the dimensional flower, while of course adding details to make it unique. I supply a set of guides to help you with the initial drawing of the petals and explain an efficient method to repeat the petals once drawn. I swear you will create something really neat, and it's so satisfying!Intro to Create a Realistic Dimensional Paper Flower Using Shadows and HighlightsThis short intro will give you an overview of the class.Lesson 1: Overview and Document Set UpIn this lesson, I will give an overview of the document set-up. We will look at some quick examples for inspiration. You will also receive template document with the built-in grid I explain in these first lessons.Lesson 2: Rough Sketch and Painting PointersIn this lesson, I will break down the complete process of choosing what brushes to use as well as showing you how to do a super quick sketch of flower shapes. I show you several of the brushes from the resources package and explain the idiosyncrasies of each. Then we paint a few of the flowers and I explain the reasoning behind the choices I make.Lesson 3: Setting Up the Flower's LayersIn this lesson, I will show you step by step the method I use for creating the multiple layers needed. This is an alternative to the previous lesson which will use different snapping and flipping techniques.Lesson 4: Adding the Airbrushed ShadowsThis is the lesson in which I teach you about creating the shadows using selection and fills and then the Gaussian blur. Once we have the shadow established, we will airbrush some variety into it to make it look more natural. I show you a bunch more adjustments as we work our way through this lesson.Lesson 5: Adding the HighlightsIn this lesson, we begin to add the highlights that give it so much added dimension. I guide you through it step-by-step while pointing out all the things to look for in the example. Then we will use liquify to adjust the petals to look more organic. I will be finalizing most of the dimension. We are one step closer to finalizing our flower now.Lesson 6: Background and Texture DetailsAdding all the finishing touches is the focus of this lesson. I will be adding all the background textures into the piece and then further enhancing all the foreground items with a combination of the color multi-media brushes as well as textures such as spatters.Lesson 7: Conclusion, Mockup and Next StepsWe will conclude everything in this lesson.
