Description
Not every object has a sign. Does that mean we must rely heavily on fingerspelling if we need to be specific? No one really enjoys fingerspelling OR reading it. And sometimes it may not even be enough to specify exactly what "thing" we are talking about! Descriptive classifiers help us clarify, and add detail to existing signs to specify a particular type, category or feature. Using such class thereby expands our vocabulary. For example: you may know the sign for "cup", but how do you express the idea of a beer stein, a coffee mug, a wine, glass, or a champagne flute. All of them are technically cups, but you definitely don't want to be drinking your prosecco out of a coffee mug! We also use descriptive classifiers the same way English would use adjectives and adverbs. Everyone knows the sign for "tree" but how could you explain that a tree is small and thin or large and full of leaves. These descriptive classifiers do not replace the sign for tree, but they help us elaborate on what kind of tree by answering the "how" questions: How tall? How big? How high? Just like adverbs do in English. In this unit, we will focus not only on how to describe objects using hand shapes but we will also learn how to couple these descriptive classifiers with mouth morphemes to support reinforce our expressions. Just by learning this type of classifier alone, you will be able to quadruple your vocabulary! Are you ready to get started?

Description
When telling a story, or even relating a concept that is more elaborate than two or three sentences, it is often helpful to use spatial organization to help establish people or locations that can easily be referred back to throughout your story. If you could imagine that when you were telling a story, rather than it being two dimensional like a painting on a wall, the format is more three dimensional, almost like a board game laid out in front of you. This aspect of signing helps us to create a miniature world that both we and our listeners can see and relate to. It allows us to quickly make a reference to things that we have already discussed, and to establish relationships between people and places and things. Just like playing a board game, when you move your token, everyone knows who is who and where each player is located on the board at all times. Similarly, we can move people around in the signing space directly in front of us to give our listeners a quick and immediate perception of who is doing what to whom and where. This function of signing can be just as exciting as winning a game of monopoly!

Description
You may have heard it said before that sign language doesn't use conjugation and that verbs are always in the present tense. Technically, this is true, but it does not mean that verbs never change or cannot be adapted to fit into the time or condition that they are being used in. Temporal aspect, or temporal inflection, is the modification of verb movement to reflect an aspect of time: duration, frequency, regularity, or continuity. This facet of a verb sign can be used to compress the signers message into fewer signs. For example, rather than sign, " I wait long time", you can sign "I wait" with an orbital movement and give the impression of a longer duration of time spent waiting. Temporal aspect can also clarify whether you are doing something in excessively (such as eating or exercising or watching TV) right now in this moment or over a longer period of time. Though it may only be a subtle difference in the way the verb is signed, the meaning can be largely different. For example: saying you just finished eating 10 pizzas vs you have eaten a total of ten pizzas this month. Of course, there is nothing wrong with using more signs just to be clear and Xpress, an idea. However, a skilled native speaker will quickly notice that a signer has a deeper understanding of the language when he condenses the message. Knowing how to modify a verb in this way, can also save a lot of time and energy - whether you are a professional interpreter or in a lengthy conversation. Not to mention, variety is the spice of life! So, let temporal aspect be the season on your signing!

We do not have vocabulary in ASL as many as English or other language have. So we can use the Order of Description with the use of arrangements like color, people, size, shape, taste, feeling, purpose, origins, how it work and others. In this fact, ASL itself become a language that come from the Order of Description. How so? descriptions often lead to become established signs that are widely and naturally accepted by the Deaf signers. Instead of looking up for a sign / vocabulary, we immediately use the order of description to identify an object or a person or place. In each video, there are a lot of examples on how we use this tool. Remember, we use our own freedom to arrange by order. There is no rule but I am responsible to give you idea how to apply with the OD. You can enjoy this great benefit when you travel to anywhere in the world where there is a different language. Yet, we can use OD instead of having to learn a foreign sign language. Even OD has better features than vocabulary have. And also OD provides assurance and clearer meanings. Description
The easiest way to describe the function of this part of speech in sign language is to compare it to pronouns in English. It would seem a bit odd, and perhaps redundant if we often referred to proper nouns repeatedly throughout a conversation. While signing, it also seems awkward to repeat the sign for a noun that was already stated earlier on in the conversation. This is where referents come into play. Simply put, a referent is a way to refer back to a person, place or thing that you have already mentioned. One thing that makes this part of speech different than pronouns is that pronouns often specify what type of noun is being referred to. For example: I like purple. It is my favorite color. Here, the pronoun is singular and gender neutral to match the noun it refers to. When signing, all referents are neutral even if the noun they refer to has a gender. Referents are also limited to fewer handshapes. However, referents can be easily adapted to fit not only the noun they refer to but also the position or location of the noun. Creating and combining soft and sharp shapes can be tricky when you're learning watercolours. Painting wet-in-wet is often associated with a loss of control. Without an understanding of timing, you can create a mess!But don't worry, I'm going to show you the importance of timing when painting wet-in-wet. Description
Stack up and Tolerance Design is all about quality, or in other words, the allowable parts to be rejected during the process. In escence, this results in an iterative process between the design department, manufacturing and the customer. In this course you will learn all this concepts to master tolerance stack ups in 2D. At then end, you will become a valuable member for your company because you will be capable to assess assemblies and propose changes to meet critical requirements. Although currently there are several software which run complex tolerance analysis in 3D, in my experience, most of the times you can simplify the problem with a 2D analysis, so as mechanical designer YOU MUST be capable of performing 2D analysis in order to save valuable resources to the company.First, you will learn the basics: The definition of nominal value, tolerance, standard deviation, normal distribution and the importance of tolerance analysis in mechanical design. Then. you will learn how to create the sketch (loop) to follow in the calculation of tolerance analysis. Several exercises will be provided so you can practice this process.Next you will Learn how to perform a linear stack ups with three approaches: Worst Case: When no rejections are allowed. This apporach results in the most expensive, but it is used in critical applications.Statistical: Some rejections are allowed. The costs are reduced because some defects will always be presented.Six-Sigma: Complex considerations such as process distributions, process caapability and loss of performance are taken into account to improve the design at different quality levels. Finally, for each approach I will provide you five assemblies with different requirements. You will need to apply the concepts to find the suitable design which meet the quality levels and solve the critical clearances. A template in excel will allow you to perform these calculations.This course is based in my own experience as designer in the aerospace industry for 10 years. I used this methods everyday to discuss initial changes with customer, find a suitable provider and reduce costs with manufacturing.
