Program Usage
Run PIDKey.exe, select the desired configuration, insert the key into the input field then click GO!. Identifying the key configuration will be checked against all configurations starting at the beginning of the list until correct data is retrieved.
The program has several built-in configurations, but also you can create your custom configuration. If you put your config file in the program folder, the file will be saved in a relative path and the program can work with it from any location folder with the program.
When you select a custom configuration a button becomes available to remove it.

Yes, this is a VERY special instrument. No, it is not just another prepared piano library. It is literally a new, unique set of tonal cinematic acoustic instruments which you can play like a piano but... they don't sound like a standard or prepared piano. Avant-Gardist has the most original, yet natural and beautifully organic sound you can imagine. It can be dark, it can be subtle, it can be unpredictable or warm, intimate (and simultaneously extraordinary and cinematic!). Recorded and sampled with techniques which aren't used in piano libraries (explained below). And yes, it's dirty, sometimes out of tune and full of artifacts. You can hear and feel the pianist sitting at the keyboard.


UNIQUE - INSPIRING - PLAYABLE
Why does it sound so unique? Imagine a group of pianists. Each of them plays only on one upright piano string with their fingers, horsehairs, chains, ebows, sticks, patafix, magnets, etc. And what's the most important: they play tonally. Even more: each string has it's own close stereo microphones (instead of standard mics positioned farther to record a whole piano) which means that every note sounds extremely close, centered, "in your face". And finally: patches use creative sampling techniques (which keep samples acoustic and almost unprocessed) and creative tuning (it's slightly out of tune but in a very natural and variable way, which is unusual for pianos! It reminds strings hand-andjusted tuning on strings). This is how Avant-Gardist sounds.
In other words: it allows you to achieve tonal articulations that aren't possible to be played by one pianist and a sound which does not exist in a standard instrumental library. Including highly playable unique melodic, harmonic, and rhythmic multi-articulation instruments, tonal and non-tonal playable textures, loops and creative menus, even piano noise & ASMR.
Avant-Gardist is made for cinematic composers not only as one-of-a-kind virtual instrument but also as an inspiring sonic palette. Just play a few notes of random patch and it will instantly inspire you with fresh musical ideas. Especially if you're looking for a set of instruments ranging from thriller, dark, horror, through unique signature sound to intimate, subtle and mellow tone.
THE SOUND
You can play Avant-Gardist like a piano because it sounds genuinely rich and full when played solo. It has so many colors that you can even create a whole soundtrack using only this library. Besides that, don't forget about the big catalog of playable textures and SFXs which help in keeping the consistent sound without frustrating repetition of samples.
Everything was recorded as closely as possible with such a beautiful sound, that almost all instruments remained acoustic and unprocessed (besides standard eq, compression and pitching). This means you really do not have to mix them, they already sound great.
And what if you need a distant cinematic sound? Simply move one knob of the in-built reverb. Need a close and intimate tone? Remove the reverb. The whole interface is easy and very user-friendly. You will find there one-knob filters, tone, attack/release, stereo, pitch, compressor, lofi, distortion, bit crusher, decimator, rotary, delay and reverb.

How did we record it
To create it we had to record all kinds of:
- crackles (e.g. bubble wraps, blister packs)
- asmr (e.g. ribbons, drawing pencil, blowed bottles)
- electric buzz, hum, static noise (e.g. microwave beeps, soldering iron, amps)
- various electric devices (e.g. electric fan, hairdryer, toothbrush)
And well, this wasn't obvious. We had to use stereo mics and put them as close as possible to the sound source. Sometimes we even had to put the materials ON our microphones and find the way they would be able to create an endless sound by... endless movement, that allowed us to create endless loops. Believe me, it's not so easy to record a loop of a drawing pencil with a consistent sound in the middle of stereo field!
Then we have designed these sounds into easy-to-use, very beautiful and satisfying textures, playable instruments, and even percussive kits. As a result, we give you and instrument which can create a whole soundtrack made of intimate ASMR or unusual & sophisticated electric noise. It sounds awesome and it's very, very practical.

What did we record
Hair dryer, drawing pencil, ribbon, hemp rope, microwave, bottles, electric fan, sponge, bubble wrap, guitar amp, paper, toothbrush, soldering iron, deadcat, fabric, paper sheet, carton box, metal pipe, chair, stand, sticky tape, various devices buzz, hum and static noise recorded via cable, tarp, stretch, wicker coaster and many other.

Forget lifeless, overused samples. Preparist brings you something entirely different - a percussive library created from a vintage Gustav Rosler upright piano, modified, prepared, and played with everything we could find: hammers, chains, magnets, sticks, fists, elbows... you name it. This library comes in two formats: as a one-shot sample pack (440 WAV files) and as a full Kontakt instrument.

Sonic extension of the Avant-Gardist
If you're a fan of prepared piano, don't miss our first library in the Prepared Piano series: Avant-Gardist: Tonally Prepared Cinematic Piano. It's a much larger instrument that lets you play beautiful, organic, and originally sounding melodies, harmonies and textures. It's our best seller - and to be honest it is our best instrument so far. It's truly unique and inspiring.
Originally, we intended Preparist to be an extension of Avant-Gardist. So, we recorded new samples and also redesigned selected samples from Avant-Gardist to serve as top quality percussive sounds (e.g. layering, shortening attacks, selecting proper round robins, adding compression, etc.).
In the end, however, we realized Preparist was too good to be just an extension... That's why we released it as a separate new library - this time focused on percussion (as said, Avant-Gardist is for unique melodies, harmonies and textures). The result: both libraries now share a beautiful, organic and consistent sonic character, but they do different jobs, not replace each other.

We had to beat our piano badly
We recorded them all: hits, clusters, knocks, strums, slams, plucks, bowings, mutings, scratches, strikes, taps, flicks, rubs, clunks - performed using fingers, hands, forearms, elbows, fists, fingernails... And let's not forget about plastic, wooden, and metal tools like nails, textiles, sticks, forks, hammers, magnets, strainers, chains, etc... Played on EVERY part of our old upright piano. Every.
It gave us a wide palette of sounds, moods & emotions (not only for horror & thriller!). The technical aspects are more or less the same for both libraries in the Prepared Piano series. And they're pretty interesting, we've been told.
What's included:
One massive percussion kit with:
- Clusters - Played on keys using elbows, fists, forearms, wooden boards, and directly on strings with sticks and various tools. Covers the full range from deep booms and classic stabs to swipes and shimmering highs. Try layering them and/or use pitch knob - this multiplies the colors and makes the cluster kit incredibly handy and versatile. Seriously, you will use it in countless tracks.
- Atonal percussion - Played on prepared strings. Every note is tonal or quasi-tonal. However, each round robin has a slightly different sound. What does that mean? It means that when you repeat a note, you get a quasi-random, atonal rhythmic feel. Rare and unique!
- Long & short hits - Long hits instantly add cinematic atmosphere. Short hits are great for accents and impacts.
- Nontonal percussion - A classic alternative drum kit made from wood and metal sounds; played on every part of the piano except the strings.
- FX - Includes mechanism noises, creaks, and long room/player ambiences to add organic depth to your track.
- Bonus: 30 loops
