For a long period of time, architecture had been considered 'static' for most purposes. However, starting from basic individual 'moving elements' like doors, windows, elevators, etc., technology has helped architects to design buildings that move as a whole or a part. Kinetic elements have more commonly found expression as media and interactive facades. This course covers many interesting examples of facades.
Further, integration of kinetics into the façade inorder to modulate daylight, shading and/or ventilation have taken the climate responsive design to the next level. Not only such buildings are interactive, they serve specific functions to enhance occupant comfort with reduced energy use. This course will enumerate interesting projects having climate responsive facades.
The dynamic nature of such facades requires that the design process to be iterative assessing numerous design and functional parameters to arrive at a optimized solutions. An example of such a performative design process using a suite of simulation tools is discussed in the last module of the course.
The course is structured in 6 modules with two instructors and a moderator. This content is highly visual and engaging. At the end of the course, you can confidently identify what kinetic facades are and the iterative design process that is required to design such facades.

We need skills that can exploit weaknesses in the MMA being taken to the streets.In kata, Kyoshi Fusco has found viable skills and concepts for today. He even answers whether one kata can be a complete fighting system.These skills do not require fine motor motions that degrade under stress. Further, they exploit a range of fighting that may be the least used. The techniques work equally well in a sparring situation or self-defense. I should note that the same skills are being used. No need to memorize one set of skills for sparring and another for self-defense. It is all the same, and it comes from an ancient kata!As far as teaching, Kyoshi Fusco provides his information with the end in mind. He does not just present techniques. The information is broken into tool sets that support the three goals of combat (I will leave those for you to read). You are training from the beginning in the order most likely needed in an altercation.While an MMA athlete could certainly use these concepts in the ring, Kyoshi Fusco is thinking of what we will need in a street altercation. Availability of freshwater is uneven and depends on many factors like regional water soucres; precipitation levels; agriculture, dairy farms and industry nearby; and the economic state of a region.
Inspite of being an essential, not everyone has access to clean and safe drinking water. Today, a big percentage of the world population is 'Water Stressed'. On one hand, some regions have abundance of water while it is a question of survival for others. Further, water pollution and wastage add to these issues.
Although you might be aware of the more general environmental issues, it is good to periodically refresh yourself of the facts and current situation.
